Fancy A Cocktail In The Streets?

We’re missing our fun-filled evenings sipping the fabulous concoctions that the bartenders at our cocktail bar in Covent Garden are able to whip up, but we’re also very excited to be planning for our return in July.

There’s no doubt that Covid-19 has changed a lot in our lives and it looks set to add one more element to the list – where we’re enjoying our cocktails and other beverages.

Westminster City Council is exploring plans to set up a vast outdoor dining scheme in our part of the city. According to Eater London, the council is considering using temporary event notices to allow restaurants and bars to set up tables on the streets.

It cited a report in the Financial Times, which revealed that timed street closures and a widening of pavements will be included in the proposal. In total, 47 streets could be issued with such notices, including Covent Garden!

As well as our patch, the plans also involve street closures in Soho, Marleybone, Oxford Circus and Paddington.

Leader of the council Rachael Robathan commented: “The West End is a unique global draw, and I am confident we can give it and our other famous locations a continental sheen that visitors, residents and regulars alike will enjoy.”

While you’re waiting for us to reopen our doors – and our bar – you could pick up a bottle of delicious flavoured gin to try at home. We recently picked out some of our favourite gins to mark World Gin Day on 13 June, including a new passion fruit and vanilla blossom flavoured gin from Bloom Gin.
