If you’re something of a DC Comics fanatic and you like indulging in a tipple or two every now and again, then you’re probably going to want to get your hands on a copy of The Official Gotham City Cocktail Book, with drinks inspired by residents of Gotham.
You’ll find both alcoholic and non-alcoholic libations contained within, with cocktails devoted to characters like Batman (of course), Commissioner Gordon, the Joker and Poison Ivy, among many others. Step-by-step instructions on making the various drinks are included, as well as top tips on how to mix the perfect drink.
The Batman, for example, may remind you of an old-fashioned, with some Angostura bitters, rye or bourbon and a sugar cube (or simple syrup). And Poison Ivy’s Rose Mojito would be perfect for summer, made by mixing fresh mint leaves, limes, white sugar, white rum and some club soda.
You might also want to try the Iceberg Lounge Cosmopolitan, made with citron vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice, lime juice, some crushed ice and some artful orange peel as a bit of garnish.
There are also some recipes for bar bites included, just in case you feel a little bit peckish in between your Batman-inspired beverages.
You can pre-order your copy of the book for when it launches in April next year, but to tide you over until then check out Comics Alliance for even more cocktails inspired by graphic novels.
The Dark Knight involves mixing sambuca with some coke, grenadine and a maraschino cherry as garnish, while the Spider-Man features cherry liqueur, raspberry liqueur and tequila – as well as some popping candy!
